About

I grew up in a small house in Utrecht in the Netherlands. Our home was surrounded by nature; tall trees, a beautiful lake and plently of fresh air and room to play. Growing up I was made very aware of the climate crisis that we are living in. Due to a lot of information from my family, sometimes emotionally charged, I felt a kind of fear forming in my relationship to the world. My worries about the future of the world gave rise to a sense of over-responsibility on this subject at a fairly young age. This is reflected in a huge portion of my choices, actions and opinions. When I started art school I was still very much looking for my reason for making. In the last semester of my second year I started with an interactive sound installation based on showing the relationship between people and nature. Here I noticed a kind of new energy and motivation that I had not experienced before.

I have a great affinity for nature, and am constantly amazed by the magic of the processes and phenomena that it brings forth. I am humbled by all the information and lessons we have yet to discover from observing natural processes. I want to transform my fear for our future into hope and faith in nature.
